Random Acts of Kindness Week! 

Doesn’t it feel awesome when someone does something nice? You can brighten someone’s day with something as simple as a smile, and that’s what International Random Acts of Kindness Week (#RAKweek) is all about!

This week, make a point to show kindness to those around you. Of course, you should always be nice to the people around you, but this week reminds you of how important it is to step out of your comfort zone and reach out to people to spread kindness and positivity!

Random Acts of Kindness are about reminding yourself to compliment someone you might not normally talk to or volunteer to help your teacher or parents with something you would normally ignore. It’s about showing LOVE in big and small ways!

Random Acts of Kindness Ideas:

Here are some ideas on how you can have a positive influence in your school or community:

1. Smile

A simple smile can truly improve someone’s day! If someone is already having a bad day, they don’t need more negativity from the people around them; if you’re optimistic, the people around you are more likely to have a positive attitude too!

2. Volunteer to help your teacher

Volunteering to help your teacher clean up or pass out papers may seem like a simple gesture, but it may really help your teacher out–as well as inspire other students to be more helpful also!

3. Help out at home

You might offer to make or help with dinner, do a chore without being asked, or do something special for a family member who often cares for you.

 

4. Hang out with your siblings

Your siblings have probably asked you to hang out sometime recently, and maybe you told them you were busy. You could’ve actually been busy, but make an effort to spend some quality time with them.

5. Donate old clothes

Have clothes you never wear tossed in the back of your closet? Instead of letting those clothes collect dust, give them to someone who could actually use them.

6. Remind your friends and family that you love them

You might sometimes forget to say it, but your loved ones will cherish the reminder.

7. Talk to someone new

Sit with someone new in class or during lunch. You could make someone’s day and make a new friend!

8. Post positive messages on social media

Post positive messages on social media to reach lots of people. Use the hashtag #RAKweek to spread kindness!

9. Help out in your community

Small things like offering extra change to a homeless person, paying someone’s bill, or even picking up litter when you see it (to show kindness to our great Mother Earth!) makes a difference!

And don’t forget to do random acts of kindness toward yourself! Loving others in a healthy way starts with your own self-love 🙂
