painted-pumpkins-helpful-hintsWhat you’ll need:

  • Any size pumpkin(s) (mini ones are so cute)!
  • Sealer; you can find at any craft store (optional)
  • Non-toxic acrylic paint
  • Paint brushes

Steps to ensure your perfect pumpkin painting:

  1. Find your pumpkins! Make sure there are no holes or soft spots (this means the pumpkin is rotting).
  2. Wash your pumpkin! Dirty pumpkins are hard to paint. And, of course, make sure they are completely dry before you move on to the next step.
  3. (Optional) Seal your pumpkin with a sealer.
  4. After sealer is completely dry, you are ready to paint! (Check out the helpful hints to the right for ideas!)
  5. (Optional) Seal again after paint dries for a long lasting pumpkin!

Change your pumpkin every day or for each holiday! With just a few materials you can create a one-of-a-kind chalkboard pumpkin.

What you’ll need:

  • Pumpkin(s). Any size will work!
  • Chalkboard paint. You can find at any craft store in paint or spray can form.
  • Chalk or chalkboard marker
  • Masking tape
  • Paper towels or hand towel to wipe off chalk

Steps to ensure a long lasting, chalkboard pumpkin:

  1. Wrap the stems of your pumpkins with masking tape.
  2. Find a place to chalkboard your pumpkins. Preferably outside on some old newspaper, so you don’t make a mess inside.
  3. Fully paint/spray paint your pumpkins and let dry. (Add an extra coat if you can still see orange of your pumpkin.)
  4. Once fully dry, draw on your pumpkin with different colored chalks or chalkboard markers. Create fun designs, write notes to your friends or family, or even feature an inspiring message to yourself!

 Happy pumpkin picking and creating!
